Loggins and Messina: Reunited and It Feels So Good

Posted by Steve Haruch on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 10:04 AM

According to MCTV, Loggins and Messina are getting back together, again. Says Brad:

Kenny was at the ASCAP awards Monday night, and he told me that he and Jim are getting together for the second reunion tour since the two split in 1977.

So Loggins & Messina are playing Tuesday in Nashville for IEBA, the International Entertainment Buyers Association.

“They’re the buyers who decide whether or not you fit in a 2,000-seat room or a 20,000-seat room,” Kenny said.

Seriously? Loggins & Messina, not a gimme for an arena tour?

“It’s not a gimme,” Kenny said. “In today’s economy, nobody’s a gimme.”

I'm really trying to imagine Loggins and Messina doing an arena tour in 2008. Seriously. Nope, can't do it. That much butane burning at once would surely some kind of national security threat anyway. Does a venue with with 20,000 seats really qualify as a "room"? Let's just hang out at Pooh corner instead.

So, talent buyers meet in Nashville to plan on booking really good shows outside of Nashville. That is ironic.
Oh well, at least we have another 5 months of the Grand Ole Opry taking up valid dates at The Ryman.
