Darius Rucker: Making Hootstory

Posted by Adam Gold on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 6:28 AM

If Monday's Gallup poll is any indication. then Barack Obama is poised to make history as America's first African-American president. However, Barack isn't the only one shortening the gap between black and white in this country as it is also revealed this week that Hootie and the Blowfish's Darius Rucker is the first African-American artist to have a country No. 1 in a quarter-century. In honor of this momentous achievement I've decided to remind us all where Rucker's journey to Music Row began: with this ground-breaking Burger King commercial from 2005. It's a real "hoot." Enjoy!

Darius didn't like it when Hootie played Vandy's Rites Of Spring and 7 or 8 people on the front row were all wearing BK Crowns and yelling for "Tendercrisp Bacon Chedder Ranch".

I think it was more like 200 people. And he was probably more mad when he got hit in the face with a beer bottle.
