In a just world, the breathless anticipation due their every move would make them the Brangelina of barbed, wryly grown-up post-punk pop. In this one, we’ll settle for an early-evening in-store from rock ’n’ roll’s coolest couple of the moment: former Nashvillian Rigby, whose albums Diary of a Mod Housewife, Middlescence and ’Til the Wheels Fall Off left graying punks and working moms pumping their fists in unison, and ’70s Stiff Records mainstay Eric Goulden, whose glorious “Whole Wide World,” “Reconnez Cherie” and “Take the Cash (K.A.S.H.)” are among the greatest singles of the era. This is their only local stop promoting their self-titled CD collaboration, a winning combination of sugar-sweet hooks, buzzing atmospherics and appealingly off-kilter harmonies that give off nothing but love. Not to be missed.6 p.m. at Grimey's. Free.

i actually meant to write this up yesterday. good job. i'm so bloody irked i'm missing this.
i taught the songwriting workshop with Amy Rigby at SGRRC in its first year. she's freaking awesome, and proof that getting older is no reason to lose the attitude.
Dude, this was so awesome. Eric G. wrote hilarious comments/drawings on some old-ass Wreckless Eric 45s I brought in to be autographed. Also, great onstage banter:
A: I always wondered what it would be like to go out with a bass player, so Eric bought this bass.
E: I bought it at a sex shop!
