Whatevs Icon Artist

Question: Just because BMI says you're an icon doesn't make you one, does it? (I mean, they gave this award to Steve Winwood one year, after all.) I guess it doesn't mean you're not an icon, either, but I've always thought of that title as one conferred by the public, not by institutions. It is the 20th anniversary of "Are you ready for some footbaaaaaall" this year, so in that sense I suppose it's fitting.
