So, Tuesday will be my last day at the Nashville Scene. I'm heading back to my hometown in the great Yankee north to campaign for Barack Obama until the election. I know you're all reeling from the devastation—who will we call incompetent now?!—but I'm excited about the next step in this crazy little thing called life.
We'll always have the memories: American Idol, people thinking I'm a dude, people bashing me for talking about my feelings—or my tepid embrace of Third Eye Blind. Oh, and there was also the occasional blip of support from out there in the Internet wilderness.
I hope at least some of you have enjoyed what I've done here—or at least enjoyed getting worked up about it—I certainly enjoyed doing it. After the election, I'll be back in town for at least a little while, so don't be surprised if you see the occasional androgynous byline in the pages of the paper. Also, stay tuned for my last hurrah: a double feature on the Drive-By Truckers and The Hold Steady in advance of their show at the Ryman (which I now have to miss for the sake of our democracy, tear).
So long suckas. Be good, and make sure to vote.

I call first dibs on blogging about TV and other peoples shoes! Unfortunately, i don't really have feelings so I'll have to leave that up to Seth.
We'll miss you Stabert! Sure, Seth can blog about his feelings, but who will understand what it's like going through life with a unisex name? When Obama starts saying education is totes important to his campaign and the theme song gets changed to something by the Hold Steady, we'll know whose influence it is.
wait a second! you're a girl??? how's about a nice cabinet post?
hmm... i dunno.
does arguing how and why i think i'm punk rock count as feelings?
Lee,
you're doing a great thing working for Barack. All is forgiven. Especially if he wins. :)
Trust us folks, the only thing androgynous about Lee is her name. I'm going to miss you, my fellow Red Sea pedestrian friend.
No more unsubstantiated digs at my movies by non-film critics?
How about a follow-up promise to stay out the arts and farther away from criticism?
I still deserve an apology for fact-checking errors.
$5 says Obama has washed his hands of health care by February 15.
Matt, er, Pro-ducer. I'll apologize for Lee...I'm sure if she had gotten the correct filming dates, it would have made her like the film more. By the way, there's a full-length review in this week's paper, regarding the DVD release.
Still, your sentimental farewell to Lee is touching. Glad to see you don't hold grudges.
Good luck with the McCain campaign!

I still deserve an apology for Silver Jew.
Well Matt, I'm glad to hear that. I take back the McCain comment. I stand by the rest.
That's a clever device, Con-ducer: You say what I said and then say what you say like you're someone injured by the art in question.
