As you may or may not have noticed, aside from the citywide Next Big Nashville music fest, another annual music extravaganza happened this weekend too. Most likely by coincidence, 102.9 FM's Buzzfest went down Saturday at Riverfront Park featuring the likes of Black Stone Cherry, Seether and American Bang.
I doubt anyone who reads this blog actually went. But I'm wondering: Is this as poor a job of planning as it sounds? Or is the Nashville radio rock constituency so underrepresented by NBN that this town could facilitate two music fests in the same weekend? Maybe all the underagers who were left out in the cold by age-restricted venues were enough to keep this van a-rockin'?

the really sad thing is that buzzfest probably brought as many mainstream rock fans out in one night as NBN had all 5 nights/15 venues combined.
Buzzfest was a huge success -- Riverfront was packed, and even before the gates opened there was a line stretching several city blocks. But Seth is right: Nashville's modern rock side was grossly underrepresented by NBN this year. Whether Buzz listeners are NBN goers is up for debate, but last year's Local Buzz NBN showcase was a huge success. Why no similar showcase this year?
"Nashville's modern rock side was grossly underrepresented by NBN this year."
So what! Why does Nashville need to prove that we have the same faceless generic garbage that any other region in the country has? Besides, isn't having Luna Halo and AutoVaughn enough to fulfill a "modern rock" quota?
Sounds like both events were successful, and that most everybody had a place to go to hear something they think is cool, so...hooray for the humans.
