Can't....type....too....excited....

It's confirmed(ish): The Hold Steady and The Drive-By Truckers will play The Ryman on Halloween. According to our sources, the official announcement should come Monday (along with a long, emotional rant on how this will be the greatest night of my life).

I do like the Drive-By Truckers but my jury's still out on The Hold Steady. Anyone here seen them live? What are they like?

I'm psyched that The Hold Steady are coming but I do wish this was going to be a standing room show with a bunch of sweaty drunks singing along, like when I saw them at Middle East in Boston. But alas it will be 200 people crowding the front of the stage while everyone else sits in church pews where it won't be loud enough, sigh.

If Lee gets her wish fufilled, I should get mine.
So when are My Bloody Valentine coming to Nashville?

I hear that on the Ryman—though I still think it could be pretty magical in a different way. And they're apparently doing 23 dates, so I'm hoping to get my club fix elsewhere.

Two bands can do in one night what I've been tirelessly attempting to do for almost a year now? Damn Lee.

Tobin, is Chicago so far to go to see a band playing exactly five locations in the US, as opposed to the constantly touring bands on this bill?
Pardon me if Illinois counts as Snob Territory.

DG: I have tickets to the Chicago show. Don't know how I'm getting there seeing as airfare has near tripled for a Southwest flight into Midway, and its a long ass drive. Who else is going?
That aside, a boy can always dream that his favorite band plays here too.

Holy Crap! Tickets to the Windy City have gotten cheaper since I last checked! How does that happen?

"a boy can always dream"
How old are you, really, to be so obsessed with bands whose last records came out almost 20 years ago, and is "boy" really the right word to describe yourself?

Considering the turnout for Spiritualized, MBV is quite wise to leave Nashville off their schedule.
