File this one under "a day late and a dollar short": Be Your Own Pet just released a new video for "Becky," the awesomely ill-tempered song that Universal didn't have the cajones to put on the sophomore album. It's up on Stereogum. I'm going to miss this band, if only for their resistance to "low-rider" jeans and their willingness to shiv a motherfucker for talking shit.

I was wondering what the deal was with this song as far as why it didn't make the cut. It's too bad really. Universal don't know. Thanks for answering that Sean.
She is just singing what melody Jonas is playing on guitar. The lyrics are trite, juvenile, and send a bad message to our youth.
The lyrics are rather silly, I agree. I doubt they ever meant for people to take the lyrics or music seriously (zombies, bike rides and, like, adventuring!), but judging by the reaction of their MySpace fans to the breaking up...it's scary to see that they (the fans) do take it seriously. Bad messages to the Youth? The Youth are already broken.
Optimisim vs. Pessimism? Hmmmm. Optimism sells more records.
Being honest, and negative do work, if you can say it in way that is not like "I will cut you with knives bitch." That's just silly, and gives stupid people violent ideas.
OK then, Jonas is playing the melody to "Do the Locomotion" over and over again.
The lyrics sure are clunky, though. Kind of like Ellen DeGeneres rapping.
