French Kicks w/Frightened Rabbit & The Weather Underground at Exit/In
1. Apparently a whole bunch of people think Frightened Rabbit have a slight Counting Crows quality. But in a good way...
2. The merch area was looking a bit haphazard. (Isn't that the only way bands make money these days?) French Kicks only had a couple of hand spray-painted shirts—which were actually pretty cool; very JEFF. Frightened Rabbit had run out of time in their motel room and were unable to include their band name on their t-shirts. Instead, all the red tees boasted was the sillouette of a heart (anatomical not Valentines); very inside baseball.
3. a) The French Kicks are all really fucking tall; b) bands from the U.K. (Frightened Rabbit are from Scotland) often seem to arrive in town with an extra ounce of enthusiasm and it shows onstage—even if the drummer did have something to say about the horrible cocktail of long driving distances and high gas prices.
