Con Can

Maybe you're bummed there's no Tape Op Con this year. Or maybe you don't care about Tape Op Con. Either way, if you're a recordist, you might want to check out Mix Nashville, a mini-conference about recording, studio techniques and all that good stuff. Mix Nashville runs this Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be product demos (GarageBand, Logic Studio, MainStage, Shure, etc.), panel discussions and presentations on everything from running monitors to software to "capturing the feel of the world's hottest players." Next Big Nashville's closing the deal both days with their "Inside the Outsiders—the Artists and Producers Making Music Beyond the Row" sessions: short performances followed by Q&A (Thad Cockrell on Tuesday, Landon Pigg on Wednesday). Students get a pretty steep discount, the Apple/GarageBand room is free and it all goes down at Soundcheck Nashville at 750 Cowan Street. More info here.
