Band of Buds

Nothing goes better with bros and bands like Budweiser, right? At least, that's the campaign advanced by Budweiser in the UK, which features some down-home Nashville flava. Directed by Harmony Korine, the campaign will contain a whole series of ads featuring the band, which includes William Tyler, Dave Cloud, Brian Kotzur, Mr. Natural and more. And, it was filmed at our very own premier dive-hole, Springwater. It's actually pretty great.

this may be the most enjoyable thing i've ever seen harmony korine do. it's hilarious in its randomness and absurdity... and, for whatever reason, i believe every minute of it, despite better knowledge.
so funny.

This video is way cooler than the previews for Mister Lonely, which might be the lamest-looking peice of crap to ever be crapped.

Great people, great setting, terrible commercial. Still better than Mister Lonely.

Seriously? It looks like some feel-good "inspirational" Merchant-Ivory bullshit to me. I want midgets and murder in movies.

I found these videos corny at best. I mean we're talking about Budweiser - not that I have anything against coporations - assembling some local musicians and make them dance around with Bud bottles while Dave Cloud is forced to do a second rate, G-rated impersonation of himself.
I am all about applauding the Nashvillians who make good music in this town - and do reguarly; why would anyone support this poorly scripted horse shit for which everyone was probably grossly overpaid?

Seems to me that Mister Lonely is far from an inspirational Merchant-Ivory film. Just found this review from Mr. Ridley:

Did you guys see this? Harmony curates film for the Belcourt, and they look really good. Never seen any of them:

Hey, does that mean that there are film posts on Cream now?

We can only hope Dave was paid the big bucks for this. He deserves it and all the glory too.

wh, dave cloud was not forced into anything. i'm pretty sure he enjoyed himself, was paid well, and was allowed to say whatever he wanted (would love to see THOSE outtakes...). also, why WOULDN'T we applaud talented local musicians being grossly overpaid by huge corporations to spend a couple of days jamming out 'popcorn' with dave cloud? that sounds pretty rad to me.
commercials are ridiculous no matter who makes them, you can't take this stuff so seriously. there never fails to be an uptight response to each blog post- apparently nashville needs to smoke more pot, spend a day at the park, and laugh a little bit more.

eat took the words out of my mouth. i happen to like this commercial(s)... i mean... kotzur doing the millipede is worth every bit of it... and may i say he bares a striking resemblence to val kilmer?????????

if you kids loved that ad, wait till you see the new one brian and i got cast in. we play paraplegic door greeters at wal mart who are kind enough to direct jack white to the aisle where they keep all the major brand running shoes made by javanese street children. it's directed by werner herzog and it's gonna be even bigger than bud.
did anyone notice an ad for heineken directed by todd haynes and featuring a chris knox song in it recently?
or seen that starbucks exclusive sonic youth cd?
be you a harris teeter democrat or an h.g. hills republican, your ass is grass just as fast when the cruise ship hits glass.
