I know some of you are prolly still hungover from kickin' it with Bon Jovi and Daughtry last night, but it's Friday, and shows abound. Danish strummer Teitur plays The Basement, the instrumental, metal-tinged post-rock of Pelican is at Rcktwn, troubadour Cory Branan plays Douglas Corner Cafe and Sonic Youth are at City Hall. For more listings, go here.

Anyone going to Sonic Youth? Of note is that I saw them three times in 1995 on the Washing Machine tour, and was surprised to find that this experimental noisy rock band played the exact same set with the exact same between-song banter at all three shows. I realize that this is partly a practical issue that makes sense for touring bands, but I didn't expect to see a Sonic Youth show that seemed so rehearsed. I just expected something more off the cuff.

Same with Green Day (or as I heard them called, the "Sha Na Na of Punk Rock".) Same set, same between song banter...
