SXSW SXSW Nashville Edition: Who's Playing, Who Cares

In just over a week, SXSW 2008 will get rockin' in Austin, and indie and industry alike will descend to overhype, overpromote and overload themselves with buzz, beer and BBQ. It's actually tons of fun, and this is coming from someone who hates nothing more than large groups of people coming together, especially when they're all dressed alike and imagine themselves to share the same worldview.
Still, I'd take the urban festival over the rural one anyday, 'cause guess what? I like shade.
Anyhoo, this year boasts lots of Nashville acts, and we've compared notes with the folks at Next Big Nashville to give you a list of the local peeps we know of who are heading down to Austin this year. Their list was longer, so that's what I've posted here. Let us know of course if you see any inaccuracies.
Also, if you're going to Austin, you should definitely try to make it to the Next Big Nashville day party for beer, biscuits and local bands.
Me, I'm going to try to check out as many Nashville acts as possible, but of course I'm equally interested in seeing the bands who'll likely never make their way through Nashvegas.
Here's some shit I'm over the moon about seeing: Pop Levi, The Slits, Die! Die! Die!, The Cribs, Vampire Weekend (sucker!), Cut Copy, Daryl Hall, My Dad is Dead, No Age, Octopus Project, Dolly Parton, The Blow, Jay Reatard and of course the band WHY?

My Dad Is Dead...crazy. I have a tape of their's from like...the 80s. Amazing. It's nice they let them out of the nursing home to play the showcases.

Well, considering that this is a blog about Nashville music, and NBN was one of the biggest local music events in Nashville last year, I'd expect them to cover it.
