Submissions are officially open for Next Big Nashville 2008, which takes place Sept. 10 - 14 this year. Last year, throngs of stellar acts took stages all over the city and turned out some of the best A&R showcase-core performances we'd seen.
This year, NBN is not only opening up the festival to applicants from a wider radius around Nashville, but they're also trying to be more inclusive, adding more all-ages shows and more genres, from hardcore to hip-hop and R&B.
There's also a more formal submission process: NBN 2008 accepts submissions through Sonicbids. Go here.
You've got til June 5 to submit.
More deets after the jump.
Playing tonight at City Hall w/Tristan Prettyman.
1. You like cold beverages.
2. You're wondering where all the white people in Nashville will be tonight.
3. Philly in the house!
And, for all you haters out there: His mom knows my mom. Snap!

Review/Hot Rock: Hotpipes have a knack for off-kilter arrangements. (Playing CD release show Saturday, 1st at Exit/In.)
Review/New Tricks: Doug Hoekstra’s latest adopts a more elliptical narrative style. (Playing CD Release/Birthday Party (with full band), Thursday, 28th.)
Review/The Gospel According to the Mattoid: The Mattoid’s latest is a tale of death, honky-tonks and Eskimos.
In The Spin: Down, Caitlin Rose, The Spinto Band, Umbrella Tree and more.
Our Critics' Picks: Tommy and the Whale, Stevie Binge & the Fork Hunts, We Were the States, Less Rave, More Party, Wilco, The Chieftains & more.
Scenecast Epsiode 121 blows in like the proverbial March lion's pride with Tommy and the Whale, The Refugees, Wycliffe Gordon, David Dewese, We Were The States, Jason Isbell, Dharmakaya, Wilco, John Doe, Tommy Keenum, Robin Trower, Darla Farmer, Chieftans and Kathy Mattea.
That's right, local alt-rockers AutoVaughn and nominees for the "greatest band name ever," Holy Fuck, are playing the indie-licious SXSW throwdown hosted by Rachael Ray! Whose spoon did they have to lick to get that gig?!? As an ex-line cook, day-time talk enthusiast and red-blooded American male, I have to say that I am damn, damn jealous. There are so many bad food/sex puns running around in my head that I can barely see straight.
On a somewhat related note, do you think she'll bring meatloaf patties with bacon gravy and peas to the green room? That would be so much cooler than cheap pizza and cheez-in-a-can. Mmmm, bacon gravy....
You may have heard that Bob Dylan somehow acquired a bunch of heretofore-unknown Hank Williams lyrics and asked people, including our neighbor Jack White, to put them to music. Apparently, the result is "cool."
Also, the Raconteurs album is already in the can, but Jack tells NME that so is something else he "can't" tell us about yet.
PS#2: Gold, meant to ask, "Are you up to the task?" It does keep getting…
PS: I have already found another early influence on rock music. Folk music recording artist…
Well, it is about time... check out www.rockhall.com/inductees/byyear and you will find Hank Williams SR…
Concerning the name: Melville's fictional whale Moby Dick appears to derive from the real whale…
Now I heard it was gonna be at the TN Superspeedway. Honestly the state fairgrounds…
