Tonight at The Basement you can check out two new projects from long-time Nashville artists.
Fl. Oz. frontman Seth Timbs will perform with his new group, the
Hot New Singles. Fl. Oz. go back all the way to the Spongebath days of Murfreesboro, back when Matt Mahaffey's studio wizardry was still a small-town secret, the Katies were on the verge of major-label exposure and The Features were just a little ol' engine that could.
Timbs has abandoned the piano for this venture, but you wouldn't really know it from the songs on the new band's MySpace, which turn up the rock but still have an element of the plucky pulse of the Fl. Oz. stuff. I have questions into Timbs about this new direction; answers forthcoming.
Also on the bill are
WHIP!, a new high-voltage sleaze-rock band featuring former Superdrag bassist Tom Pappas, whom you might remember from his sidework with Bare Jr. and his Flesh Vehicle days.
