Free to be MP3

Posted by on Fri, Feb 9, 2007 at 12:15 PM

EMI is thinking about ditching all forms of piracy protection and releasing all of its music in the unprotected MP3 format. The Wall Street Journal reported it first here, but a subscription is required so you might have better luck with the Market Watch summary. RIAA said it still supports copy protections (of course). I sort of picture the trade group stuttering "but...but...but...NO!" a lot and making a frowny face.
