'Member how Windows on the Cumberland
closed down last September? Well now it's back, this time on the other side of the river. You'll recognize the
new location, 'cause it's where The 5 Spot used to be, at 1006 Forrest Ave.
Tonight's show features Mellow Gravy at 9 pm and Kristen Cothron at 10. Cover is $5.
UPDATE: Per 5 Spot owner Diane Carrier, the lease agreement with Windows isn't final yet, but they expect it will be settled soon. Given that a tornado destroyed her Gallatin home in April, the venue has understandably taken a back seat while she and co-owner Bones rebuild their home and get things back on track. Boots Hill, owner of Windows on the Cumberland, had been looking for a new location since Windows closed down last September. He's simply changing the name of The 5 Spot over to Windows East of the Cumberland, adding new sound equipment, a jukebox, applying for a liquor license, etc. He told
The Tennessean that the music and vibe would be very similar to Windows when it was downtown. Boots will hold a grand opening of the new venue sometime in February.
