I've Got a Bitchin' Camaro

I wasn't a fanatic Dead Milkmen fan, but I still know almost every word to every song on Big Lizard in My Backyard, which is why I'm excited that the former singer/guitarist Joe Jack Talcum is comin' to town. If it weren't for bands like the Dead Milkmen, I wouldn't have known at such a tender age that it was okay to be so irreverent, or that juvenile and sophomoric jokes are indeed eternally funny. Making fun of Def Leppard got you beat up at my high school—here was proof that everyone and every thing was fair game in the insular, snarky world of spastic nerd-punk. And again, I would like to recommend for the the thousandth time Franklin teens Cowboy Dynamite, who are brilliant descendants of the Dead Milkmen.

Talcum is still at it, as the track "Sex Sting" makes clear.

Fave lyric: "I wish I had not typed those dirty links."

We can thank Casio Casanova, a.k.a. Casio Con Queso, and his band Tigers Con Queso, who have two upcoming shows with Talcum:

Weds, Dec. 6th, Springwater
Thursday, Dec. 7th, Grand Palace
