Double Dose of Yorn

Strangely hot New Jersey troubadour Pete Yorn is rolling into town, opening for the Dixie Chicks. It's a strange bill—check out the interview with Yorn in the Scene this week to hear how it all came about—and also a bit of a bummer for Yorn fans who don't want to fork over $45 for a trip to the Gaylord. Fortunately, Yorn will be playing later Friday night at Mercy Lounge for a mere $20 (Jeremy Lister is opening). For my two cents, Yorn is a consistently underrated singer-songwriter who releases consistently good records. His live show is even more rockin' than his literate, pop-tinged studio work would indicate—a Springsteen cover would be no surprise.

Here is a track off Yorn's recently released Nightcrawler featuring his tourmates on backing vocals.
