Where Were You Last Night?

Posted By on Wed, Oct 18, 2006 at 11:06 AM

We went to the Cannery last night to see The Blow, who were opening for Jenny Lewis. Too bad we showed up at 8:40, 'cause they'd already played, though we didn't really figure that out 'til we waited around for an hour or more only to have J-Lew walk onstage. What gives? Rock shows should never start before 8:30. And if you dare to rock early, you better rent an airhorn and a blimp to make sure the word gets out.

So we headed to the Exit/In to see the Irish electronic-pop duo Oppenheimer and bossa nova kids Mosquitos, and the Rock Block looked like this:

The bands were there, Jason the bartender was there, Kenny was guarding the door, but there wasn't one single solitary patron to see the show. NOT ONE PERSON.

Did Scissor Sisters kill the rock show last night? Was there a "Lost" marathon on or something? Was anyone at Asobi Seksu at the Basement?
