If you live in Murfreesboro and you can't seem to get out to the bright lights big city of Nashville this weekend here's a three-day round-up up of stuff to get down to. If I missed anything, post about it.
2 NITE - Glossary w/ Wax Fang at Wallstreet. 9pm. $5.
Glossary is a 5 piece rock band that isn't afraid to get a little down home, and it's their first show in the 'boro with their new drummer Eric Giles, who you might have seen banging with Cuttlefish or Biffs DeVille. Wax Fang is Scott Carney formerly of Lucky Guns new group, and I've been hearing lots of chattttter as to how great they are. I also heard My Morning Jacket is taking them on tour in November.
FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH - Bent Fur w/ BOO! Says Pete, Ribbon Pigeon, and Tigers Con Queso at the 'Boro Bar and Grill!
Bent Fur is a relatively new group of four girls who play rock. Everytime I hear them they are way better than before, so they're worth checking out. I have no idea who BOO! Says Pete or Ribbon Pigeon are, I would direct you to Myspace, and Tigers Con Queso is Simply Steve and Casio Casanova's new band and they are pretty good, the obvious comparison being Violent Femmes but I hear some Jesus & Mary Chain in there.
SATURDAY THE 14TH GRAND PALACE 6 pm: Youth Culture & Arts Benefit feat. The Clutters, The Kindergarten Circus & Scaremongering. $5.
Clutters are awesome, Kindergarten Circus are 14 year old kids that rock way more than some bands around here, and Scaremongering is a band I've never heard of, yet. Go here, then later...
ALSO SATURDAY THE 14TH The Comfies at the 'Boro Bar and Grill. $5.
Get your ass back to the 'boro for another late night with The Comfies, who will be firing their pop rock cannon in your general direction. They've got a new ep and if you read this site you already know that. It's going to be so good the 'boro is going to have to keep all three garage doors closed. I mean they probably will anyway because it's going to be cold this weekend.
