Yourself and the Air at The End

Call Me the Breeze

Call Me the Breeze
Chicagoans Yourself and the Air, it has been said, don't fall too far off the musical tree from ’90s Windy City denizens like Cap'n Jazz, Pele and Joan of Arc, not to mention heart(on sleeve)-landers like Omaha's Conor Oberst and Tim Kasher. Whether you see this as a good or bad thing depends, as does everything, on your physical and mental position on the ole GoogleHeart map. As their name suggests, YATA's are songs of isolation (usually self-imposed) and expression (i.e., singing about said isolation, ironically enough, onstage in front of dozens of people), tempered with just enough smooth-skronk guitar to aid with the emotional heavy lifting. It's moving music, in every sense of the term.
