You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown

When: Nov. 15-Dec. 23 2012
Clark Gesner’s musical adaptation of the Peanuts comic strip was an instant theatrical classic when it began its long off-Broadway run in 1967. The Charles Schulz characters were already big at the time — through newspapers, books, TV specials and greeting cards — and Gesner’s tuneful and witty score added new dimension to Schulz’s world (not to mention to Charlie Brown’s world-weariness). The musical was revived and revised in 1999 — featuring Kristin Chenoweth — with a few new songs added and others replaced. Nashville Children’s Theatre’s new mounting should serve as a highly entertaining holiday-style outing for the whole family. The veteran cast members are Jeff Boyet, Rona Carter, Shawn Knight, Patrick Waller, Martha Wilkinson and Bobby Wyckoff. Scot Copeland directs, Russell Davis provides the music.
