Yonatan Gat w/Faux Ferocious & Roadblock

When: Sun., June 1, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $7
Intrepid Israeli garage-rock trio Monotonix made quite a name for themselves blazing a trail of furious destruction across the United States before calling it quits in 2011. Unfortunately, the band’s chaotic-by-design live show — which included performing in mosh pits, or atop a club’s bar, and sometimes even setting shit on fire — routinely overshadowed its fun-albeit-blockheaded music. Showing he has more to offer than just providing a meat-and-potatoes soundtrack for an acrobatic, life-and-limb-threatening punk spectacle, the band’s former guitarist Yonatan Gat recently re-emerged with an experimental, Tropicalia-inspired solo EP — the still rockin’ but more sonically expansive Iberian Passage — that channels Monotonix’s adventurous energy through the speakers, not just the stage. Locals Faux Ferocious — whose catchy garage stomper “Striking Distance” you might have heard in a T-Mobile commercial currently in regular rotation — and art-rockers Roadblock open. ADAM GOLD
