Works by Kelli Shay Hix at The Belcourt

Hix Town

Hix Town
While working as an itinerant farmer in 2002, Kelli Shay Hix came completely unplugged: no Internet, no camera…no life? Not quite. Hix began to document the people, places, insights and experiences she gathered along the way in a diary of sorts, consisting of simple but charming pen-and-paper drawings that serve as an archive for her memories of that time. For this new exhibit of work at The Belcourt, Hix will be displaying images that she has pulled from her vault, re-worked into larger renderings and framed. Now all that remains to be seen is whether the artist will attend her reception or send her bar-brawling, manslaughtering alter-ego in her stead. Pop by the opening and find out.
