Curated by Brian Downey, this show introduces four new gallery artists whose work runs the gamut from silly to surreal, minimal to manic. Utilizing the eponymous variety of media, the sculpture, paintings and furniture that make up this exhibit include work by Randy Shull, Maria-Louise Coil, Sarah Emerson and Krista Grecco. Shull's "Cascade" paintings feature rows of vertical marks on wood. Their unassuming surfaces play the foil to Grecco's bold, cartoon-like statues. While the other two painters both make use of a muted palette, Emerson explores wilderness themes while Coil waxes nostalgic, capturing images of vintage Nashville signage.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Dec. 6. Continues through Jan. 8, 2008
