Wishing Tree Productions' Cinderella

When: Dec. 21-22 2012
The story of Cinderella isn’t as straightforward as Disney has brainwashed us to think. Tales of searching for girls with missing slippers date back to ancient times, and stories of good siblings triumphing over unjust siblings appear in 1001 Arabian Nights — one of the collection’s tales reverses the traditional Cinderella ending, finishing off with a murder-by-poisoning instead of a “happily ever after.” While this Wishing Chair Productions version of the story doesn’t stray far from the expected path, you should look forward to a story with its own style, including the striking Tom Tichenor marionettes that make up the cast, the energetic songs that propel the staging of the story, and an opening number with shadow puppets that’s right out of an old-school Hollywood musical.
