Wine With the Author: Matthew Quick

When: Mon., Feb. 24, 6:30 p.m. 2014
New York Times best-selling author Matthew Quick came out of the gate strong; his 2008 debut novel, The Silver Linings Playbook, was adapted into the Academy Award-winning film of the same name. (At last year’s Nashville Film Festival, The Spectacular Now director James Ponsoldt said he was busy writing the script for Quick’s follow-up, Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock.) He’s written several young adult novels since, and will appear at Parnassus for their Wine With the Author series to discuss and sign copies of his latest novel, The Good Luck of Right Now, which is already being developed into a film by DreamWorks. Considering the plot involves a protagonist coming to grips with his mother’s death through a series of letters about everything from philosophy to cat telepathy — and these letters are addressed to Richard Gere — we’ll be adding this to our book club lists, and crossing our fingers that Gere signs on for the movie.
