Nashville’s Audity Central collective, home to some of the city’s dance-music tastemakers, is back with its first party of the new year Friday night at The End. Special guest is Kemetic Just vocalist Justin Chapman, up from Atlanta, who’s been featured on Silver Network, Central Park and other world-class labels. Watch also for sets from ambient head Carl, Plural Z featuring Aimee, DJ Spoon, Scott Nelsen, and of course Mindub, one of Nashville’s electronic-music gatekeepers. The party runs 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., and it’s free before 10 and $5 after. For more info, see www.mindubonline.com.
♦ If your taste runs more to technophobia than techno, ragtime pianist Michael Stalcup offers live accompaniment to a screening of Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent masterpiece Metropolis. This might just be better than the ‘80s synth-pop soundtrack. The movie’s 8 p.m. Saturday at the Top O’ Woodland Bed & Breakfast, 1603 Woodland St. in East Nashville. Tickets are $25. For more information, call 228-3868.
