Since Cicolello and her husband Theo Antoniadis opened Ovvio Arte last year, they've featured the work of other artists, playwrights and musicians, but they originally renovated the onetime garage behind Greer Stadium in large part to have room to create their own art--her paintings, his music. Now Cicolello, a graduate of New York City's School of Visual Arts, is finally featuring some of her work, a collection of oils she describes as "an inspection of human feeling and the dirty business of attraction and repulsion." Subjects range from an anonymous transvestite to Pope Benedict, whose eerie rendering may forever alter your cheery associations with the color yellow. Still, don't read too much into the title--she says it's just a Stones song that happens to be a current favorite. Then again, it does open on Friday the 13th. Hmmm.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: March 13. Continues through April 5, 2009
