OK, people, we’re going to get all serious and a little depressing for a moment: If you’ve ever had a prolonged illness, or you can recall that week in bed with the flu that seemed to last forever, you might imagine how bleak and boring a long hospital stay can be. Especially if you’re a kid. Enter Donna Glassford and her team at Cultural Enrichment at Vandy. These ladies stay busy keeping world-class art in the hospital hallways and bringing bedside music and fun art carts to patients. They believe that art helps the healing process, and their program has become a national standard. The Gordon Jewish Community Center will host a field trip led by Cultural Enrichment’s Jenny Lewis to tour the impressive and unexpected art collection at Vanderbilt Medical.
