Valient Thorr w/Black Tusk

According to the band's self-spun mythology, the North Carolina-based five-piece is only based there because their space ship crashed there in 1957, and their time machine was stolen by Walt Disney. Claiming to have originated in Venus, the group either brushed up on the finer points of rockin' and rollin' before they got here, or Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent and the MC5 each have strong intergalactic followings. Exercising prototypical elements of Earth hard rock and metal, Valient Thorr's infamous live show has landed them supporting spots with Joan Jett, the Eagles of Death Metal and, most recently, Motörhead. Touring alongside are Savannah trio Black Tusk, who’s recent Passage Through Purgatory is an impressive melding of early thrash with sludgy, NOLA-style metal.
