University School of Nashville kicks off its 18th year of evening classes with a roster of more than 150 sessions, lessons and experiences, exploring everything from technology to dance. This year’s catalog is long on culinary events, with workshops in gluten-free baking, Indian street food, pizza making, whiskey distilling, edible gardening and cake decorating. Get a glimpse of chef Deb Paquette’s new venture when she hosts a course on pairing wines and creative sandwiches, or preview the upcoming restaurant Silo, when chef-owner Clay Greenberg hosts dinner and a bourbon tasting. If backyard hens become legal this winter, there will even be a “Funky Chicken Coop Tour.” Classes run January through April. Registration begins Dec. 7, and spaces are likely to fill up quickly, particularly in smaller classes, such as Miel’s popular charcuterie workshops, which are limited to three participants.
