Tweens w/No Regrets Coyote & Fox Fun

When: Sat., June 21, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $8
Young adulthood has always been a tough gig — nothing guarantees frustration like the burden of responsibility without the benefit of experience — but being able to crank up the amps and shout about it takes some of the sting out of thorny issues. Like the offspring of Joan Jett sprouted fully grown from the forehead of an Everly brother, Tweens frontwoman Bridget Battle pairs a melodious pop sensibility with a thrashing take-no-prisoners style, packing a self-titled debut full-length with future-classic rawk anthems. It feels like we run into a No Regrets Coyote show every time we turn around — the quartet has been pounding the pavement hard, here and all across the country, in advance of their debut EP Little Brother — but we can always do with another serving of their chugging power-pop/pop-punk riffery, guaranteed to get fists in the air and crowd-surfers off the ground. Whether they appear as the stripped-down duo or the full-bore four-piece, Fox Fun’s raucous 12-string hooks are the perfect way to start the night. STEPHEN TRAGESER
