Tour de Fun feat. We Were the States, Hammertorch & more

When: Sat., April 9, 12 p.m. 2011
Price: Free
There hasn’t been much to celebrate in Murfreesboro lately: Grand Palace closed up shop, The Red Rose is teetering on the edge, YEAH quietly left its sweet digs on the square. Can you blame us when we feel a fog of malaise upon entering Rutherford County? Thankfully, when the going gets tough in the ’Boro, the tough throws a big-ass house party — or, in this case, 15 house parties. Sprawled across 18 miles (according to Google’s directions wizards), Tour de Fun is a bike-centric music festival featuring 40 local bands. A few bands play 10-minute sets in each house, decorated with work by a local artist. When the bands are done, the throng of cyclists moves on to the next venue. First stop is a cook-out at MOAB, followed by performances by the likes of Hanzelle, We Were the States, Fake Brad and more — all in whimsically named houses like “Houselhoff” and “Fortress of Solid Dudes.”
