If you enjoy “new old-time radio” and genre-bending creativity, you must catch Tokens: Live at the Ryman. A variety show featuring music, theology, humor and author interviews, Tokens is the creation of Lee C. Camp, who also serves as host. Camp has described Tokens as “something like Garrison Keillor meets Bill Moyers; or Thomas Merton — the monk, activist and writer — goes to the Grand Ole Opry; or like Mark Twain meets God and likes the God he meets.” The upcoming show/12th episode, “The Welcome Table,” will examine the importance of hospitality. No doubt, the performer roster looks strong, and will include author and activist Shane Claiborne, IBMA Entertainer of the Year Cherryholmes and three-time Grammy-winning blues artist Keb’ Mo’. The Nashville Choir, Buddy Greene, Odessa Settles and Tokens house band The Most Outstanding Horeb Mountain Boys complete the lineup. The performance benefits Room at the Inn.
