Those Darlins w/Adia Victoria & Tristen

When: Sun., Aug. 17, 7 p.m. 2014
Price: $10
It’s a point of pride that Music City is home to some of the top female-fronted bands in the country. If you’ve somehow missed them as they’ve made their mark over the past five years or so, get right tonight: Here are three of the best, all on one bill. Adia Victoria and her razor-sharp band turn expressions of anger and frustration into an art form, using a sophisticated combination of grunge and very old-school vocal blues in the menacing new single “Stuck in the South.” Tristen Gaspadarek gradually turned her much-loved electric-Americana style into an electronically enhanced pop sound without losing an iota of the songcraft and performance skill that made her stand out, and the resulting LP C A V E S was our staffers’ No. 1 local release last year. Not far behind were Those Darlins, who close out tonight with one of the best rock shows you’re likely to see anywhere, mixing up pub rock, surf, outlaw country and much more. STEPHEN TRAGESER
