Re: “Gene Watson w/Jimbo Mathus & The Tri- State Coalition

I was delighted to read this article about Gene Watson & the release of his new CD. As a fan of Gene since 1975 I have all of his albums & CD. I know this " Best of the Best:25 Greatest Hits" will be an outstanding CD, as Gene has recorded every song on the same notes as he recorded back then. Myself & many fans are looking forward to buying this one.

Thanks Margaret Brown (SCOTLAND)

Re: “Anna Kate Dunn Album Release feat. Innocent Flannel

Anna Kate Dunn's new album "Fly Away" is not just another Nashville small time country release. Her writing is all about life and experiences everyone could relate to. In addition Anna Kate Dunn was not afraid to show her heart and her imagination. The portrait that the album paints is exactly like her personality and her life time of experience with music. Her young age creates a feeling of our own early days but do not be fooled. Her ability and experience as a musician will surpass most people twice her age and in the same genre. Simply put she has skill most people dream about and work for their entire life.
Sincerely, John Anthony Schwab IV "Jake"

Re: “The Alternators w/Phil Keaggy, Chris Rodriguez, Tom Roady, Tommy Simms, Akil Thompson, Bobby Blazier, Carl Herrgessell & more

Last night at 3rd & Lindsley, "Old School" music was redefined as timeless and classic. What a blast! The Alternators With Phil Keaggy were awesome in every way. Prior to singing and playing, Phil told me they would be doing "covers". If I remember right, they started things off with a very jolting version of Rod Stewart's "Stay With Me". Wow! Right then and there, it was game on! Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" was among many other great songs which followed. At one point, Phil Keaggy did an Eric Clapton tune. Soulful, precise and rockin' solid --the connection between artists and audience was strong throughout. Baby boomer's children or "young people" were enjoying The Alternators as much as folks in their 50's or 60's! The Alternator's drummer and bassman definitely woke up on the right side of the bed, showcasing rock rhythms and grooves at their finest. After the nonstop 90-minute concert was over, The Alternators With Phil Keaggy freely milled around with audience members, talking and hugging many. How often does one see that anymore? As to their next gig, I daresay that only an act of God can stop me from going. ***** 5-Stars/Grade: A+ --Review Submitted By Paul Steinmetz

Re: “Alice Peacock w/Brian Wright

B. Wright and the Tragedies is where it is at! His 3 records are Classics in my home enjoyed by the Elderly and Kids alike! Best part is he's EVEN BETTER LIVE! He encourages crowd participation creatively...by having them snap fingers through a song or stop playing while they sing a "Ooh-ooh-ooh!" A true Diamond in the Rough! Check out some of his Wizardry on slide guitar and such on some of Joe Purdy's albums -his occasional touring and recording partner- it's Fantastic! And lastly scour YouTube and watch any video he's playing live in and further aquaint yourself with a genuine American Troubador! To paraphrase the Doobie Bros. "Brian is Well All Wright With Me!"

Re: “The California Guitar Trio w/Chris Dunnett

The California Guitar Trio was excellent, excellent, excellent! They conjured up the ghosts of Bach to Freddy Mercury, with essence of David Gilmore added for good measure. A truly enjoyable evening. And to be able to take home a CD of tonight’s performance was a perfect ending.

First time we took some Execs from A&M Records (the old Charlie Chaplain lot in LA) to see Dave play they said, "We love that guy! He's got a real "f*** you" attitude." Tom Willett, Martha's Vineyard for a minute more.

Re: “The Adam Nitti Band

This group is a strong return to fusion rock in the 21st century. Led by Adam Nitti, a six stringed bassist who plays all six strings and is adept at playing the bass as a lead instrument as well as whom solos as naturally as those from a sax or trumpet, and adds sweet emphasis to other player parts. Drummer Keith Carlock (who tours with Steely Dan) locks down the other half of the rhythm section. He will have you looking for the other percussionist all night, as he handles multiple beats within in a song by himself. Then add Mike Whitaker on keyboards, who has a world beat Weather Report Joe Zawinul influence happening adding color and tone. This band starts off where the fusion movement took a pause, and thunders on. Jeffery Scott Wills multi horns and Tom Hemby around out this group (of seasoned side men). You need to catch this group to believe how much music can come from a five piece fusion quintet. Kodos to 3rd Street and Lindsley for continuing to book jazz of any form. Fans of the genre need to support these musicians and the clubs that book them. Check em out...you won't be sorry.

Great bar with great shows and great sound. This place has great local bands all the way up to huge national acts. I would really suggest checking them out! and the drink specials on Monday are possibly the best you can find.

I agree, it was a memorable night but now I hear Phil is no longer playing with the Alternators. Chris and Tommy are great musicians in their own right but Phil Keaggy is in a class of his own. Very disappointed!!!

Re: “Kinky Friedman

Kinky Friedman should appointed US Ambassador to Israel. The Jews, the Muslims, the Christians all need to lighten up a bit and laugh at themselves, once in a while. Kinky is a charming fellow who knows BS when he sees it and acts accordingly.

Love Riley's voice. Stoked to see Tim Smith--he was Sheryl Crow's guitarist/back up vocals forever. I think that the name of the other guy is spelled Tilley. Wendell Tilley, producer and killer guitarist.
