When Kings of Leon announced the first signings to their new label Serpent & Snakes — beloved Nashvillians The Features and Turbo Fruits — we had to consider the fact that the Followills might just be tastemakers after all. The Weeks, a band of youngsters from Jackson, Miss., are another S&S acquisition, and with their long tresses, flannels and minimalist Southern-rock sound, they sort of hearken back to … well, early Kings of Leon. What The Weeks bring is a looser, garage-friendly song construction and a dynamic live show that proves they don’t intend to rest on the laurels of their label chiefs — they’re willing to work for their success. With Followill-friendly locals The Kingston Springs.
