What do ska kids do when they see litter? Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up! Hey-oh! All jokes aside, legendary New York City ska outfit The Toasters have been returning objects to their rightful altitude for 30 years, keeping the moonstomp alive and well in modern America. Think about that for a second: They’ve been skankin’ their way across the country for nearly 10 times the length of ska’s brief appearance in the musical mainstream. (And almost twice the time that ska has been a punching bag for two-bit hipster douchebags who don’t realize their Vampire Weekend records sound like The Rudiments on Prozac … grumble.) But there’s a reason that The Toasters have outlasted the last two waves of skankin’ shenanigans: They are an unbelievably good live band with party jams for days. Now where’d we put our checkerboard shirt? Oh, it’s at the dry cleaners? Guess we gotta pick it up!
