The Three Interfaith Amigos at Second Presbyterian Church
For God's Sake, Get It Together!

“I won two weeks at Interfaith Camp,” Woody Allen once said, “where I was sadistically beaten by boys of all races and creeds.” Though it was just a witty punch line when Allen said it in the mid-1960s, the joke could be a metaphor for the current state of inter-religious relations. But the Three Interfaith Amigos are are coming to the rescue, and not a moment too soon. Comprising the Rev. Don Mackenzie (a retired United Church of Christ minister and co-founder of the Seattle Network for Peace and Justice in the Middle East), Rabbi Ted Falcon (co-author of Judaism for Dummies) and Sheikh Jamal Rahman (a Muslim Sufi minister and an adjunct faculty member at Seattle University), the Amigos recently co-authored Getting to the Heart of Interfaith: The Eye-Opening, Hope-Filled Friendship of a Pastor, a Rabbi and a Sheik. The theological threesome take a compassionate and often irreverent look at the challenges of navigating interfaith relations in an increasingly polarized world, and work together to promote tolerance, social justice and peace. The evening will include a Q&A, and an excerpt we saw on YouTube suggests these three wild and crazy clergy members may give those other Three Amigos a run for their comedic money. Presented by Second Presbyterian Church, the Islamic Center and Congregation Micah.
