After presenting a showcase last May of 18 new plays, New Works Nashville — curated by Lauren Shouse, Christopher Bosen and Nate Eppler — offers another round of staged readings of 12 brand-new 10-minute plays, written and performed by Middle Tennessee playwrights and actors. In addition, two scripts read at the earlier event — Willie Nelson Ain’t Dead by Darren Michael, and Echoes Always Come Back by Garret Schneider — will be produced as a part of New Works Nashville’s ongoing commitment to nurturing emerging playwrights. Eppler will direct Michael’s play, while Shouse helms Schneider’s script. Audience feedback sessions follow the readings, moderated by Shouse, who’s been involved in new works development both independently and with Tennessee Repertory Theatre. Volunteer actors and directors interested in participating in the readings are invited to attend the read-through session at noon on Nov. 5.
