After an extended hiatus, the local power-pop heroes return, appropriately enough, at a celebration of the audacious playfulness of ’60s mod fashion. Recently in Los Angeles to work on a fifth album, leader Hans Rotenberry and crew return with new songs that extend their obsession for crisp, propulsive guitar pop. Rotenberry also continues to explore a more pensive side, showing a maturity that balances the cleverness and soaring arrangements of the band’s signature sound. They’ll headline the latest edition of Mod Night-A Go Go, joining host Britt Savage, her band Twang Deluxe and dancers from Music City Burlesque in a tax-night shindig.
