Through various books, a stage play (presented in Nashville in 2007) and an as-yet-unproduced film script, the story of Peter Otto Abeles has been told, including his youthful experience in Austria during the Nazi Anschluss and his careers in the U.S. military and as a businessman. This spinoff one-act play by Thomas Hicks portrays Abeles and his father Ernst in a speculative relationship, as Peter “arranges” a metaphysical meeting at a place in time when both men are 60 and at the pinnacle of their respective careers. The cast for this staged reading includes Abeles, Hicks, Rodney Pickel and Laurie Canaan Corbin. Bill Dorian directs the workshop performances.
