The Red Chord

Mayhem Festival won't be coming to Nashville this year, but Boston-based death metallers The Red Chord opted for a Music City visit rather than a day off from the fesival's tour schedule. For the past six years, the hyper-technical, progressive and brutally heavy five-piece have managed to maintain their surprising melodicism, all while growing even more progressive, heavier and, um, hyper-technicaller. Their third full-length, Prey for Eyes, breaks even more land speed records than previous efforts and is chock full of all the guitar calisthetics the band's reputation is built on.
