So there’s this band from Portland, Ore., who are putting their new album out on a Nashville record label. Did someone reverse the direction of the indie-rock jet stream or something? Local imprint Per Capita — also home to Scene favorite Ya Za — has added another feather to its diversely outfitted cap with the funky, countrified bop of The Quick and Easy Boys. (Aren’t most boys quick and easy? Anyway.) The album’s called Red Light Rabbit, and it fits in that crease between straight-up boyish rock ‘n’ roll party music (The Strokes, etc.) and a kind of punky San Pedro-style mannishness.
