Get Civical

Instead of so much griping about the city's past, present and future standing in the world of urban livability, mull over the some 800 contributors and 50 community meetings that produced an actual vision for Nashville's urban core. For the first time, the general public can peruse the drawings and materials involved in hashing out Nashville's best urban potential as part of the Nashville Civic Design Center's The Plan of Nashville: Avenues to a Great City. The exhibit, which runs through Jan. 10, celebrates five years since the release of the aforementioned book, and includes the work the Design Center has completed in that time. And if all that stirs your creative juices, you've still got time to enter the Nashville 2054 contest—deadline extended to Jan. 13, 2010—where artists can draw their depiction of Nashville's urban future for a chance to win $1000 (details at civicdesigncenter.org.)
