The Nature of Wood

When: Oct. 12-April 27 2014
lequiregallery.com
Taking the stuff of trees as its subject, this artful turn on all things woody promises to never go against the grain. The star of tonight’s show is 86-year-old Olen Bryant, an artist-educator whose name is synonymous with wood sculpture in Middle Tennessee. The Nature of Wood pairs Bryant’s immediately recognizable figurative pieces with the wood turnings of Brenda Stein and the diverse body of work created by sculptor William Kooienga. This show is complemented by woodcut prints fashioned by Alan LeQuire and Hatch Show Print’s own Jim Sherraden.
