The Meditations

When: Thu., March 3, 8 p.m. 2011
Ladies and gentlemen, please proceed to the dance floor: It’s time for the third installment in a (hopefully) never-ending series of shows with some of the greatest artists reggae has ever produced. For the first two shows in the series, we had a suspicion that the promoters were picking through our record collection to find our favorite artists, but this time we’re absolutely sure of it. The Meditations’ “Woman Is Like a Shadow” is one of our All-Time Top 3 Reggae Songs — one of those songs that current and former roommates have heard way more often than any human should be expected to — and their classic albums Message From The Meditations and Wake Up are some of the finest pieces of roots reggae ever laid to wax. Plus it’s at Tequila City, which is a welcome addition to our clubbin’ rotation. Intimate and low-key, with good sound and good drink specials, it’s a definite improvement over the shady nudie bar that used to hold the space.
