The Mascara Tour at Douglas Corner

Bat Four Lashes

Bat Four Lashes
For those who came of age in the Lilith Fair era—as these four did—there’s no question that female singer-songwriters can carry a tour. There’s only the question of who ought to be in the lineup when Sarah McLachlan’s not an option. This brief jaunt through the southeast—christened the Mascara Tour, but not sponsored by M.A.C. or Revlon or any such cosmetics line—features Morgan Bracy, Treva Blomquist, Roxie Randle and Rachel Pearl, all of whom either live here or did once. Between them, they cover inspirational pop ballads, sweetly melodic folk-pop, adult-contemporary country and swanky supper club jazz (Pearl and Blomquist are the most fully-formed singers in the bunch), each with a uniquely feminine touch. Self-sufficiency’s spotlighted on this tour. All of them are leaving their regular bands at home and backing each other as a fluid and improvised acoustic quartet.
