For those who came of age in the Lilith Fair eraas these four didtheres no question that female singer-songwriters can carry a tour. Theres only the question of who ought to be in the lineup when Sarah McLachlans not an option. This brief jaunt through the southeastchristened the Mascara Tour, but not sponsored by M.A.C. or Revlon or any such cosmetics linefeatures Morgan Bracy, Treva Blomquist, Roxie Randle and Rachel Pearl, all of whom either live here or did once. Between them, they cover inspirational pop ballads, sweetly melodic folk-pop, adult-contemporary country and swanky supper club jazz (Pearl and Blomquist are the most fully-formed singers in the bunch), each with a uniquely feminine touch. Self-sufficiencys spotlighted on this tour. All of them are leaving their regular bands at home and backing each other as a fluid and improvised acoustic quartet.
